The Jamaica Ministry of Transport & Works is charged with fostering the economic and social development of Jamaica through development of its transport system.  The Ministry works to secure resources and provide effective policies, planning, standards, and regulations for a safe and sustainable transportation infrastructure.

Challenge:

The Ministry sought a business performance management solution that would allow them to easily manage and evaluate the performance of its seventeen agencies.  The solution would have to integrate data from across the agencies, incorporate advanced data visualization functionality, allow each agency to access and report on its own data, and adapt to constantly changing business requirements and indicators.

Solution:

NetCharts Performance Dashboards (NCPD) was selected for its ability to integrate data from the seventeen Ministry agencies, to create a variety of visual representations of the data, and for its accessibility and ease-of-use.

Results

With NCPD, the Jamaican Ministry of Transport & Works has been able to devote more time to its mission.  Omar Auld, a Developer at the Ministry, commented, “NetCharts Performance Dashboards frees up considerable time and resources.  Directors will now be able to focus on transport issues and not on software issues.”

The Ministry has been particularly impressed with the flexibility of NCPD, and is using the dashboard software to creatively edit and update dashboards based on the needs of each Director.  The Ministry has gained a new ability to respond quickly and effectively to the performance of each of its agencies, and as a result has seen improvements in organizational and operational efficiency.  The agencies have also benefited from the in-depth access they now have to their data.
