Getting Started

The first step is to start NetCharts Performance Dashboards either by clicking on the desktop icon or from the Windows start menu at:

Start Menu > Programs > Visual Mining > NetCharts Performance Dashboards Enterprise > Launch

Note: If NetCharts Performance Dashboards Enterprise Edition is installed on another machine simply enter the URL into your browser, for example: http://ncpd.example.com:9880/
Note: If NetCharts Performance Dashboards Desktop Edition is being used, the path is: Start Menu > Programs > Visual Mining > NetCharts Performance Dashboards Desktop > Launch
Note: If NetCharts Performance Dashboards Excel Edition is being used, the path is: Start Menu > Programs > Visual Mining > NetCharts Performance Dashboards Excel > Launch

During the installation of NetCharts Performance Dashboards Enterprise Edition you may have requested the process to dynamically generate something called a self-signed SSL certificate. An SSL certificate is necessary to enable a secure connection to NetCharts Performance Dashboards. When using the self-signed SSL certificate with most browsers it may trigger a warning. This is because the browser does not know who signed the certificate ahead of time. Below is an example as seen in Microsoft Internet Explorer:

HINT: It is recommended that if a secure connection is required in your production environment that you use a signed SSL certificate from a authorized company. Your technical team will know how to obtain a signed SSL certificate.

When you first connect to NetCharts Performance Dashboard you will be presented with the login screen. Enter your user id and password.
